There is no shame in being HIV positive. The Poz Pride group is for HIV poz gay and bisexual men. HIV negative gay and bisexual men who are “poz friendly” are also welcomed. HIV poz gay men very often find themselves being stigmatized and rejected by the mainstream gay community. For many HIV poz gay men, this makes coping with the disease all the more challenging. And the effects contribute to silence, denial, secrecy, isolation, withdrawal and self stigma. Since October 2007 PozVille has been encouraging HIV poz gay men to recapture their Pride and not be disempowered or shamed by others’ attitudes. Many of us refuse to be shamed by the ignorance and insensitivity of others. We stand proud of who we are and so should you.
PozVille was also the first all poz men network (we embraced al HIV positive men, not just gay poz men) to use the "myspace facebook" style technology. Formerly known as PozQueers on the me.com Snappville platform when it opened in October 2007, PozVille eventually was hosted on its own private dedicated server July 2009 through April, 2012. The web hosting contract for the PozVille server expired late Spring 2012. PozVille is now hosted as a "group" here as Poz Pride.
